  • Which is an easier market to enter as a small brand, Tiktok or Instagram ?

I have a client who wants to do both but I am suggesting one or the other first. Let me know why you would prefer one or the other?

    • TikTok for quick results in awareness.
    • Instagram for brand building and conversions.

Really depends on what the goals of the brand are.

Awareness campaigns centre around entertaining the viewer of the content and subconsciously create a positive or desired link to the brand.

Humour is usually the best way to do that, but it is also tough to create and can be subjective. TikTok is helpful in that regard, as you can jump on what is popular and give it a branded twist.

A good example of that would be Ryanair’s TikTok account.

The question here is What is their target audience? If it’s gen Z, then TikTok. If it’s Millennials, Instagram.

Also, what sits well with their brand? What’s the message and image they want to convey?

It depends if you find it easier to make videos (tiktok) or post images (Instagram).

My client is into posting images but they’re hardly getting any engagement in their posts.

I’d like to add in one more suggestion: Do both if you can.

TikTok videos can easily be shared on Instagram.

Depending on what you are trying to achieve or sell with your brand I always suggest doing paid posts. It helps with expanding both awareness and grabbing followers you may have not reached before.

It depends on your client and who their target audience is. If the audience is 25 or older, TikTok probably isn’t a great idea. Also, is it a local/regional business or a national/international one? Because if it’s local/regional, again TikTok isn’t a great idea.

Instagram has much wider adoption, is easier to create content for (especially content you can cross-utilize on other platforms) and advertising via Instagram is MUCH better in terms of targeting options. I’d start with Instagram for sure, but especially if the target audience is older than teens/early 20s and more of a local/regional target.

Hi, It completely depends on your target audience. Tiktok deals with GenZ and Instagram deals with Millenials. And just to add one more thing, none of us know which one works better for your brand, So I suggest you to work on both the platforms with a limited budget and understand it yourself and plan your compaigns accordingly.
I generally follow kuware.com for Marketing related info. Hope this helps.

Agree with you @AlexMerchant Both the platforms are unique in their own way. Tiktok is more of a video sharing platform, while Instagram is a social media platform. And as a small business you have the potential to experiment on both the platforms and consider the one that’s giving the best results.
