How To Start Your Tech Startup

What is Tech Startup? (1:33)

A tech startup is defined as a startup company whose concepts, products, or services aim to meet market needs through innovative technology.

Some of the world’s largest and best-known global companies, including Google, Apple, and Facebook, are examples of companies that used to be tech startups.

In the examples above, Google has pioneered search, Apple home computing, and Facebook connecting and sharing with others online.

Working for yourself rather than the employer has its difficulties, such as losing insurance benefits or a reliable paycheck. But it comes with trade-offs that, for many workers, surpass the challenges: the ability to set your own schedule, choose your own projects, create your own career path, and focus on the goals that you value.

For these reasons and many more, self-employment is the career path of choice for more than 10% of the United States population.

One way to move to self-employment is to start consulting in the field in which you have already worked. For example, if you work for a law firm, you could work as a legal consultant for businesses that do not have domestic legal staff.

How to start a startup with minimum capital? (24:41)

Starting a new business with no money is nearly impossible. Even doing things yourself, including business card design or business entity filing, cash is still needed to complete the process. Certain businesses require fewer startup costs than others.

    1. Pick a business that doesn’t require a lot of equipment, product development.
    2. Hire contractors instead of employees. Outsources reduces payroll and transfers overhead costs to the contractor.
    3. Produce on-demand. Don’t maintain extensive inventories of products.

How to improve a business website? (29:16)

When working to strengthen your business website, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

If you stick to these tried-and-true principles, you can transform your website from an eyesore to an asset that wows your customers, drives conversions, and takes your digital marketing to the next level.

      1. Make your website mobile responsive.
      2. Follow modern design trends to stay in the competition.
      3. Use white space as much as you can.
      4. If you have a contact form, make it simple and less complicated.
      5. Place your CTA near the top of your homepage, so your site visitors don’t have to do anything to find it.
      6. Optimize your site speed & load times. Improve your navigation and user experience.

What should be your focus when starting a company: product/services or the problem? (34:29)

One of the most common (and deadly) mistakes in entrepreneurship is creating a solution before identifying the problem.

You might think you have the next big idea, but have you done the research to see if it could be successful?

Before starting your next company, take a step back and assess two things: the marketplace and your abilities.

Think hard about this. Starting a company is equal parts passion and planning. It would help if you had the motivation for both.

First, ask yourself, what are you passionate about? Next, what does society (or even just your local neighborhood) need?

Wrapping it up

Don’t wait for things to take off to put your plans in place. It can happen very fast, and you have to be ready to ride the wave with your tech startup.

The dream is free. The hustle is sold separately.
