No questions about it – people are waking up and seeing that schooling is not the only “system” of education…and that online medium is equally valuable if not more..

To add to that, just look at Byju’s acquisitions – whitehat, topper, all online first companies..that says a lot about where the consumers are heading

I think the more important question here is how it got so big. Is it because of large scale unemployment or the productization of education?

I think, unemployment due to the skills gap is the bigger issue here, one that is not being adequately addressed by companies. Yes, certifications exist but they are few and far in between…

EdTech is becoming bigger and bigger as the pandemic is stretching down the lane. A huge number of companies have launched online courses in the market. Courses regarding learning new skills, new hobbies, new technology, and academic growth courses as well. In the past 2 years, I have seen 10X courses available online compared to 2018-19.

The importance of EdTech doesn’t just lie with the power it has to reduce learning costs and engage learners in an innovative way. It also is about the way EdTech has equalized learning standards for all and has enabled access to learning, to anyone around the globe.
Now, inner city school can receive the same standard of learning and content as a well funded school. I truly believe this is a better way of education for all!!

And this is true not just on a school by school or country by country basis, but globally; offering developing nations access to developed educational institutions, both in an academic and professional learning setting.

It’s good to see digitalization spreading at a rapid pace, and the edtech industry evolving across the globe. But, talking about India, our government has failed to cope up with the fast growing digital world. More than 40% of population still doesn’t has access to the internet.
We have to work through the odds and find a way to continue providing education to the backward class via Internet in these challenging times.

Very true @areeba.k Until and unless we introduce people to internet, we are not making progress in digitalization. The tech savvy are becoming more tech savvier, but the rest of the people still remain at backend. We should look forward to moving everyone forward, before we call ourselves a digital economy.

True @Abhishek ! With EdTech becoming the new way of providing education, it is of key importance to uplift the poor and introduce them to the digital world.
